StP day 3

Sunday trip report.
Sunday morning most of the folks went canoeing. I stayed behind with
the ones that didn't want to go. I can't say how that was other than
everyone enjoyed themselves.
Those that stayed behind with me went to a sand pit were I first got
stuck, then after Mike Moran pulled me out we were asked to leave by a
police officer. Matt P needed to refuel, so we went to the gas station.
while we were waiting Mat finished refueling and attempted to start his
truck. There was a LARGE bang and I saw a thick, dense cloud of stuff
come from beneath his truck. The guys at the gas station were diving to
the ground and the guys in the sportsman shop next door were reaching
for their gun racks. (Hence the nickname for Matt's truck, AK-47)
After some mild wheeling and alot of standing around talking we
headed back to the camp to wait for the canoeers.
When they returned we all gathered and gave out door prizes, donated
by Super Scout Specialists, which included some Tulare, CA shirts. (That
was neat, to be able to see shirts from the scout world on the other
side of the mountains)
After that, Joe C, Rob & Jean, and I, along with Dan MacIntire and
Bill, headed back out for a couple more hours of wheeling. When we were
getting ready to leave Rob had the grill on the truck pulled apart to
hook up a new horn. Since we were heading out I told him to just put the
grill back on and forget the headlights, "We will be back before dark".
We headed in down Muddy Road to the Monster Mud Puddle where Joe got
stuck. I pulled him out, then we headed down a new trail. It was a neat
trail, full of whoop-dee-doos and mud puddles with tight turns and tight
underbrush. When that ended we headed toward the trail were I flooded
the tranny in Ugly a couple of months ago. (We all had manual trannies,
so we were going to conquer that puddle and the rest of the trail) This
trail was evidently cut as a trail for the Jeep Jamboree, because the
trails were tight and muddy and challenging. We got pretty far into the
trail when it started to get dark, remember, no headlights, so we had to
turn around and headed back. We will have to try that trail again
sometime with more daylight.
