More info on t-case problem

  OK, on my break I went out and unlocked the hubs,
the engaged the t-case....now the front drive shaft
does NOT turn. 
  Can I safely assume that I have a problem within the
t-case? It's the single speed, chain driven...broken
chain maybe?
  As I said before, I will be putting in a two speed
sometime soon but am going camping this weekend and
would like to know that I had some kind of 4wd if
necessary.
