I would have to go look to remember the title, but I have the Waylon album
with nothing BUT Billy Joe Shaver songs on it! Guess I failed to mention
liking Norbert Putnam, Norman Blake, Mickey Newberry, Hoyt Axton, and
Delbert McClinton as well!!

Two good ones-
One summer, about 20 years ago, Newberry took about a ten day vacation here
in Steamboat. Spent every evening sitting at the bar in the place where he
was staying. After enough drinks, he would go up to his room (so long as
there were only about ten people in the bar) and fetch his guitar. THAT was
some nice stuff to listen to!

The time Hoyt was on Jay Leno, talking with Jay about goin' to Sturgis, on
his Hog. Jay had some plump, liberal ninny woman on the show (Shelly
Winters, I think). She finally asked Hoyt if he was planning to wear his
helmet on the ride! Hoyt (6'-4", and 290 or so) turned around rather
slowly, but definitely, looked her square in the eye for about three
seconds, and said "No." Distinctly and politely, but with a manner and tone
that let her and everybody else in the audience know that nothing more
should be said on the helmet subject!

Regards, Greg
