Re: ihc-digest V6 #818

Tom,
I'm glad you got to the part about "with load leveling", because I was
wondering what kind of a special Suburban you had with such limited
towing capacity. "Load leveling" means using equalizer bars and an
equalizer hitch to take some of the weight off the rear of the
Suburban. These equalizer bars actually lift up on the hitch of tow
vehicle and the front of the trailer, more evenly distributing the
weight. For more of a description of how to set these up, look at the
Binder Bulletin FAQ for my article on trailer towing setup.

If you had the weight evenly distributed on a tandem axle trailer,
your Suburban should pull it easily. What Chevy wants you to avoid is
getting so much weight on the rear axle, that the tow vehicle is front
end light.

BTW the hitch says 4000lb max trailer / 9500 max with load leveling.
So whats
the difference????

Thanks as always
