Re: Think Different

Steve,
Even though I said I was out of this conversation, I guess I'm not. I
never thought of the comparison between International and Apple. There
are some amazing similarities. Some of you may not know that final
demise of IHC took place when they hired a hotshot CEO from Xerox.
Apples demise really started when they hired Scully from Pepsi.
Many people felt that one of IHC's problems was they had too many
models, and we all know this almost killed Apple. IHC had too much
inventory, so did Apple. IHC had a difficulty with marketing their
light line as it was done through the truck dealers, Apple never did
get a decent marketing strategy in regard to who their dealers were
going to be. IMHO they still don't have a good dealer marketing
strategy, but they do have the inventory problem under control.
When you think about it, Jobs has been behind most of Apple's really
good moves. He, of course, built the first Apple, he ram rodded the
team that developed the Mac, he came up with the idea of giving an
Apple II to every school in California, and he may even be able to
save Apple.
Can't wait to see the movie in June about Jobs and Gates. I probably
won't like it, but I'm really looking forward to it.

They've been shooting themselves in the foot ever since. Now that
they've
got themselves down to 3-4% fo the market people can't afford to write
software for their os.

They didn't move when they had the huge os advantage. Talk about poor
timing. maybe that's what makes IH lovers like the mac
