12v radio to 6v

I would like some advice. I've found a 12v radio out of a '55 Binder.
Could I just replace the tubes for 6v? Or is there more? Physically they
look the same.
To make matters worse, I've found a '53 Chevy pick-up radio (6v?). The
case might fit, but the faceplate is the wrong dimensions, suggestions?
