Re: How do I install a freeze plug?

In Linda Tripp's secret telephone recording, Monica and Luke Nelson
<lnelson@domain.elided> were heard saying...

>I am about to install a freeze plug into the engine (345 in a 70 pickup)
>and I am wondering how I do this?

As Greg said, use a socket that just fits inside the core plug as a handy
driver.

First clean the casting hole in the block with fine abrasive cloth or
something like Scotchbrite to remove any corrosion and rust. Then smear a
*thin* coating of permanent gasket sealant (#1) in both the casting hole and
the outer lip of the core plug. Drive the core plug in as straight as
possible. Allow to cure overnight and fill her up.

Regards,

John L.
