Possible Amp Guage short

Hi all,
While driving last night, an instantaneous short happened when the hot
lead for my self installed 12v power recepticle found a ground. As I
looked down at my feet, it almost looked like someone had done some
welding due to the sparks dropping. It was over in a heartbeat, and the
truck still runs fine. With the lights on and engine not running, the
guage shows a discharge, when first starting, it shows a slight charge.
All appears normal. Of course, when the engine's running and I use the
turn signals, the guage doesn't move at all (it used to just barely blip
in time with the turn light). I haven't taken the dash panel off yet,
but is there anything I might need to pay close attention to when I get
a chance to check it out?
Thanks,
Myron
