Re: Scout versus ScoutII

There are many differences between the Scout and Scout II. First, the Scout
I had various updates. The models include 80, 800, 800A and 800B. The 800A
and 800B were the most up to date versions. 800A were made from 69 to 70 and
are easily recognized by their round marker light. The 800B was made in 71
and can be recognized by the rectangle marker lights. In these trucks on
could get power steering, power brakes, V8, Automatic, 3 speed and 4 speeds.
These trucks are smaller than the Scout II.
The Scout II is wider and longer. In 74 they put disk brakes on them which
greatly changed the stopping distance. In 76, once they dropped the pickup
and travelall they lengthened the Scout to make the Traveler and the Terra.
There are various upgrades as the Scout II progressed.
The Scout II tends to be a little easier to buy stuff to modify the truck for
fourwheeling. There are many people that have modified Scout, though.
I'm sure you will receive a ton of replies to tell you about the trucks
