LEGISLATIVE ALERT
Oregon Introduces Bill to Limit Suspension/Tire Alterations
               Attention all 4x4 clubs and
enthusiasts in Oregon. A bill (S.B. 574) has been introduced in the
Oregon legislature by State Senator John Lim (R-11) that would severely
limit vehicle suspension, body lift and wheel/tire alterations.
Specifically, S.B. 574 would ban vehicles whose bumpers are elevated
more than 3 inches over the original manufactured bumper clearance.
We Urge You to Contact Your State Legislators to Oppose S.B. 574
S.B. 574 would ban reasonably altered vehicles due to overstated
concerns with bumper mismatch.
S.B. 574 discriminates against hobbyists and aftermarket parts makers by
leaving it solely to the vehicle manufacturers to choose bumper heights.
S.B. 574 would force owners of modified vehicles to spend large sums of
money to reinstall original components.
S.B. 574 would ban useful alterations that provide adequate clearance
for on/off road capability and accommodate heavy loads, larger tires,
improved suspension and water-fording capability.
               This bill tramples on the rights of
4x4 vehicle enthusiasts in Oregon. Contact Sen. John Lim (Phone:
