Dan's Engine woes
Dan,
Just a thought. With the known difficulty that some engines develop from
clogged oil returns down thru the engine (smallish holes) would it be
reasonable to check these for mud? Engine starts and oil is pumped out of
the pan (pressure). Oil cannot get back down to the pan at anywhere near
sufficient a rate (low press). The oil drains slowly and at startup can be
pumped but gets "stuck" up high after a short run. The effects of this
blockage could be very bad on other components.
How difficult would it be to clean these out? Can a stiff wire be run down
the drains? If this is happening I'd expect a lot of oil say in the valve
covers after running a bit. However if the engine is starving for oil
circulation running it to test may not be warranted. Any ideas out there on
if the drains can be run through pipe cleaner style?

Negative. Oil pump works. No clogs. I have pressure at start-up, but;
within minutes it drops to nonexistent.
