Hang onto the trademark.  Don't give an inch.  It's your only protection.
Eastman Kodak almost lost the exclusive rights to use the "Kodak"
trademark to Fuji.  This happened in a lawsuit many years ago.  Fuji (I
think it was Fuji) was making the case that "KodaK" had become part of the
language through general use and they felt they could use it too.  BTW
Fuji lost but the courts took it very seriously.
