One thing to look for is check the pressure of the elect pump.  These
carbs are deisgned for about 7psi.  Most electrics are much more than
that.  They can force the float valve open and cause some serious
flooding.  Sounds like it might be your problem.  Did you see any black
smoke?

Shocks should tame the axle hop.  that is assuming there is nothing wrong.
