Power Steering Box Input Shaft Size?

> David-

Don't buy that box! Sombody else may have coverd this already(i'm really behind) but,The loosness can be corrected by the adjustable nut
thingy on top of the box. As for the
leaking, It is pretty easy to put in new seals. I just did this yesterday on my input shaft.
First, take off the Rag/ujoint. then knock off the big nut with a punch. Uncrew the next
thing with a spanner wrench if you have one, I dont i just used a punch and a lever to
unscrew it, it
shoud come out pretty easy. Pull out the bearing/seal assembly. the front part (I think
its called the adjusting screw) will just pull of. Dissasemble this. First take off the rear
bearing retainer by prying with a screwdriver. The manual says to discard this piece,
DO NOT throw this away, the kit I bought didnot include it, You will have to straighen it out
and re-use it. Pull off all the bearings, carefully noteing their order. pull off the o ring. the
needle bearings and the two seals(shaft seal and dust seal)will have to be driven off or
pressed off. Go buy a kit. Re-asemble in reverse order. The manual calls for adjusting the
adjusting screw to so many inch pounds with the shaft rotated clockwise witha
12-piont 3/4 deep drive socket. I didnt have a inch pounds torque wrench so, i just guessed.
I hope this helps. If youve allready bought a new one, mabey sombody else has
a leaky box that needs fixing.
