John,
   Check valve, huh? Would this look like a little black plastic
'bullit' in the inlet side of the pump? When I got the new pump home and
was preparing to install it, I noted that there was a plastic thingy
stuck in the inlet, but; it looked like it belonged. The other 'new' one
I pulled out and returned didn't have this plastic thingy in it. That
could be why it didn't work, huh?
