Re: Carb for my T'all

Ben,
I think the best aftermarket carb available for the 4 barrel IH V8 is
the Carter AFB / Edelbrock carb. You need to buy a adapter plate for
either the speadbore manifold AND the squarebore manifold so it doesn't
matter which you pickup. John L has done some extensive tuning on his
Edelbrock and gets good mialage out of it. I have not changed anything
on mine, except screw adjustments and I get about 11-12 MPG in my
typical driving style. A softer foot would get 13 easy. I got close to
18MPG on the highway coming home from Nationals. I need to buy and
install the off-road needlesfor my AFB, but; aside from that I love my
carb.
The only thing better would be a Holley ProJection.
