ABS vs. No-ABS

re: instinct and different rigs - right you all are... *FOR US*

John H. openly admitted Wanda *probably* wouldn't compensate for the
Terra's lack of ABS as well as John does..

Simple Fact: aside from being pro-gun, pro-environment (vs.
enviro-nazis), pro-1st Amendment, and at least amateur mechanics... we
also all seem to be above average drivers.

Yeah, I'd get used to driving one rig w/ ABS and one w/o...

But 95% of the other idiots on the road? Why are automatic
transmissions so prevalent today? Any idiot can climb in it and drive.
And they *DO*. Every manual transmission vehicle I've driven is
different and has a learning curve to get things down right.. my Chevy
Luv.. my yellow '72 before it was mine.. when it had a 3spd w/o syncro
1st.. I was always trying for 1st at stop signs.. and I'd end up waiting
to get back into 1st.. and I stalled it all the time with the heavy
clutch and manual drums.. mom's 68 Chevy.. 3-on-the-tree and a whole
'nother set of "parameters"... girl friends' econo-boxes.. my friend
Dan's Subaru Outback.. every single one is different. Heck, when my '77
was delivered, the previous owner proclaimed he nearly backed into his
companion's Chevy Pickup that morning... the owner's other Scout had a
T19.. in and up for 1st.. the '77 had a 3spd... in and up for REVERSE...
Oops...

My "fear" then becomes... Idiot Son is raised driving Dad's ABS
Explorer.. now he has some money, and buys his own car.. naturally, a
cheaper one.. so he gets a Bronco II... without ABS... in an emergency
situation, he nails the brakes... and slides.

Or, Grandpa... he's been driving that old '73 Ford pickup since the day
he drove it off the lot... you loan him your shiny new Explorer to take
his great grandkids to the mall while on vacation... ice.. he pumps..
ABS does NILL.. car doesn't stop.. you collect your inheritance a little
sooner than expected.. as well as the life insurance policies on your
kids... naturally, Gramps didn't believe in those new fangled seat
belts, either..
