On ignition switches:  I've had mine replaced in both my '74 Travelall and
'80 Scout.  They both used very common parts.  I think the Scout had a GM
and the Travelall had a Chrysler (but I might have it backwards).  Anyway,
you should be able to get the parts recognized by a good mechanic.

Here's a starting problem with a strange ending:  my '75 travelall was
acting up.  Not positive of the symptoms, because it only ever happened to
my wife.  Anyhow, she couldn't start it, and it wasn't heat related.  I
think it would just crank and never turn over.  Anyway, I've been so busy at
work, that she just asked a few folks, and came to the conclusion that it
was the goldbox.  She bought a new one for $45 from Autozone or Pepboys, and
installed it in about an hour.  Works great now.  She's cool. ;-)

Another interesting starting problem happened the other day in my '74
Travelall.  This one has me a bit concerned: when I went to start it first
thing in the morning it acted like the battery was completely dead: not a
sound.  But, I had headlights!  And a funny quiet click noise at my HVAC
controls.  I don't know why, but I turned the fan on, tried it again, and it
worked fine.  Of course, this could have been a coincidence.  But somewhere
in my ignition/starter system I've got a problem that is probably going to
get worse!
