Ha!  Absolutely right Tom.  Which means I have one in my 5.0.  But,
it only has 34K miles on it.  Some of those miles have been hard ones
though.  I think the smaller tires might make a difference too.  Ford
Motorsport does sell a heavy duty 8.8 Trac-lok axle, maybe due to
the stocker units not holding up to hard use/high miles.  So far,
mine still lights up both tires anytime.  I guess when it stops locking,
it is time for new clutch plates, before I destruct the side gear
teeth.  Should be real easy to just drop in new plates, you wouldn't
even have to mess with the ring and pinion setup, since that would not
change the carrier bearings/shims.
