Re[2]: Tom's Axles Q's...
Tom,
From '67 to '72 GM used the 12 bolts and 14 bolt corporate axles.
When I was restoring the '72 3 door that I had, I was told only corp
stuff, and Dana fronts. No dana rears. The Dodge trucks from the
same era had a 35 spline D60 8 lug rear. Maybe that's it? That's
what I was trying to get out of the junk yard. Someone took one axle
shaft out before I got there, so I passed. I got the leaf springs
though. They're slated to go into my T'all front over the break.
I believe that the T'all axles are slightly narrower that full size
big3 truck axles. The trucks from the big3 are, GET READY, 9" WIDER
than a ScoutII axle. This was one of IHs marketing points. They said
you can get a Scout where a truck won't go because it's so narrow,
same running gear just narrower. Hey get ready for more than half the
tire to be outside of the fender with big3 stuff under there!
