Uh, yeah, that was supposed to be my point???.. the shorter stroke is what
you want for higher rpms which is necessary in racing- in fact, you want to
be "oversquare" (bore greater than stroke)...the longer stroke is for
truckin'...

Wasn't I clear? Like that's never happened before.  I'm too lazy to go back
and read my post.

I think I was trying to say that IH's aren't high speed engines  (like
that's news), and to prove it to get a racing engine John Comer went all the
way down to a 304,  instead of starting with the big, bad 392 like most
people would think of.

But e'en so, I think John's gear ratios are too high or something.  You're
pretty far down on the hp curves at 2200 RPM.  I'm not sure what he means by
"hauling better," exactly??
