Re: Laura's question of trust
Laura, that is generally up to you. I don't know if anyone else has
answered your question or not, because i am behind on the digests, but if
you feel comfortable with your mechanic, then he/she can probably be
trusted. I don't know if there really are too many differences between an
IH engine and one that is still in production, other than the cylinder
that is used to time. The mechanic that iwill be taking my Scout 800 to
specializes in foriegn (sp?) cars, mainly VW's. Do I trust him? Yes. I
have known him for years, DAd has known him longer. Of course, I will
take my manuals to him with my Scout, but there really isn't too much
different between engines. They all work on the same basic principle...
So, the big question is: Do YOU feel comfortable taking your Scout to
him/her for engine work? If you have had them do work in the past for
you, then you probably already know the answer.
