MIchael's Electrical Prob

Michael:
You have already received so good suggestions for finding that short,
I'll add some to the fray: You can connect the ohmmeter, and then begin
disconnecting things. Start by removing the small wires from the starter
relay
and maybe the alternator. See if the resistance changes. Of course, one
of the wires coming off the starter is the main feed to the truck
instruments
and accessories, so if that one makes the change, you need to continue
to proceed down the circuit, maybe moving next to the firewall connector.
Eventually you might reach the fuse panel, but I think your short is in a
major wire, someplace in the engine compartment (going by the
description you gave). A wiring diagram will REALLY help, I don't
know how much different a 60's T-all is, but I have some for 72/73
T-alls.

Above all, don't connect a battery until you are reasonably confident
the problem has been eliminated. At the very least, subjecting the
battery to those kind of high current discharges is reducing the life of
the
battery.
