Tom,
   I'm sure you got this mentioned to you already, but; the 72 and 77
rear axles should be identical. There are 4 bolts holding the axle shaft
in, unbolt them and get your self a length of chain with a hook on one
and. Put the hook in the hole in the flange and whip the chain like you
would crack a whip. This will pull the axle out of the tube. Since you
have tyhe axle out you should replace the bearing as a safety measure.
