  It must have been those "dark days of the late 70's" that soured folks on
JC Whitney.  They had a bankruptcy or something.  Quite a few people lost
the money on their prepaid orders.  In those days the most common ordering
method was prepaid via the mail.

  My experience goes back way before I even had a drivers license.  My
older brother and I had a '33 Ford.  JC listed every imaginable part for
that car.  Not a single one was ever in stock and hadn't been for years. 
Apparently, they continued to list them for catalog completeness.
