Re: Lets try this again

Depends on what the slipping problem is. Is it in the first gear reverse
area? How about 2-3 area? The front band is for the 2-3 zone. That is
adjusted from the outside. It mearly tightens up the band on the front
of the clutch assembly. This will stop the slipping if there is enough
band left to adjust. The rear band is for reverse and first gear. This
one you have to adjust from inside the pan under the filter. The front
one is near impossible to do in the truck. The rear one is fairly
simple. My old mechanic told me that the torgueon the band lock nut
isn't that important. Just loosen it up, run the screw in until snug
then back out a 1/4 turn (I think, it is either a 1/4 turn or 2 turns,
check the manual) then tightne the lock nut back up tight. I could be
wrong on that, it's been a while since I did mine, so read the manual.
