Lets try this again

I posted the following over a week ago and got no response.
     I still haven't changed oil/filter yet.

     Digesters,

My transmission is slipping and I have some questions for you.

I have checked the fluid and it is ok. I am going to change
the filter and replace the fluid this weekend which will probably
solve the problem but I wanted some info on adjusting the bands.

I was following the posts about band adjustment awhile back and
I read the procedure in my shop manual (factory manual) and there
were differences in the torque values that were being quoted. I'll
post the value from my manual after I read it again tonight.

My question is what will the adjustment do for the tranny? Will
it help with the slipping problem or does it only effect the shift
     points?

     Thanks,

Still need to install my 2" body lift (had it for about 6 years)

PS - I usually bug Joel Brodsky here at work with my Scout
questions. But I need to get out on the net more often.

PSS - I need to buy a tranny shift cable, anyone have one? Also
do I need the whole assembly or can the cable be replaced? It's
broken at the threads, ie there are no threads left on the cable.
GUS has it for $40. If anyone has a spare they can part with for
less let me know. Otherwise I'll give our good friend Rod a call.
     I've always had good
     luck with GUS.
