Powr-lok update

Hi all,

I finally figured out what was wrong with
the axle shafts (one too long and one too short)
with the Powr-lok differential. While the open
differential has one set of grooves that the
axle-shaft keys into, the Powr-lok has two sets
of grooves and on the side where the axle-shaft
seemed too long, the two sets of grooves weren't
aligned. I managed to get them aligned and everything
is hunky dory now. Or almost...

Now both axle shafts are a bit too short (1/4") and
are free to slide back and forth a bit. I'm assuming
that this is not a good thing. Should I shim the shafts?
There's only two places I can see to do this: 1) insert
a spacer at the differential end of the shaft or 2)
insert spacers between the brake backing plate and the
the wheel mounting plate. Any suggestions?

Thanks,

john
