A/C compressors, again
Fellow Binders,
I'm planning to do some rummaging in a large junkyard in eastern PA
this weekend, and one of the things on my "wish list" is an A/C
compressor & brackets for adding on-board air. I know there was a
discussion about this a year or so ago, but unfortunately I lost my
saves when our email system here crashed. (Some of you won't be
surprised to hear that.) Anyway - I understand that there are several
different "size" (i.e. output rates) compressors that were, if I
remember correctly, made by York. Also, I believe that York
compressors were also used in Fords.
So, for maximum air output, what specific compressors might one want
to look for? Is it necessarily true that a large Ford van might have
a larger compressor than another '79 Scout II that happened to have
A/C? Is the pulley on the Ford configured for the same belt that
would wrap around my crank pulley?
At this point, I'm going into this somewhat blind (although I have
seen a few setups on the web), and I'd like to gather a little info
before I go looking for my next tetanus scare. Any info is
appreciated.
Joe Costanzo

PS: I'll let you all know what sort of IH supply exists at the yards.
