Jeff,
   The front edge top screws are just 1/4-20 bolts with a self tap end,
all IH hardware is a self tapper. I don't know why. 
   The front timming gear cover dipstick is a non 4x4 item. With the
double sump pans the fron sump is not as deep as the rear so you
wouldn't get an acurate read on the dipstick.
   I think you can get some drain plugs from NAPA that tou screw into
the old holes and these have new smaller plugs that screw into them.
