I have a system in my Scout.  I have an ignition resistor mounted on the 
firewall.  Attached with some wire ties are the pieces of wire to make up 
the backup ignition.  I favor the points for backup as this is something 
I know I can get working as long as the coil is good.  'Course when was 
the last time you had a coil fail?  The points system is so simple I 
prefer it for backkup.
