Dual compressors?

Yeah yeah... I made the mistake of spending time in the garage and under the
hood last night...

York compressor is about 11" top to bottom (long ways) and 5.5" side to
side. That means two Yorks side by side would be about 11x11.

Stock, the york sits on it's side, 5.5" tall.

Anyone with a 3" body lift care to measure the clearance at the air
compressor bracket to see if it'll clear 11"? One could mount two Yorks
side by side or over/under (naturally, pulleys will need to be changed, and
the belt system tweaked).

Another thought is to move the compressor inboard to the motor as much as
possible... then remove the "overhang" on the bracket, and mount another
compressor vertically off the end. Some inner fender clearancing might be
required, and this is my least favorite idea... no easy way to make a strong
enough bracket extension to hold that heavy monster.

For those that *really* want AC and a compressor.. without using a Sanden on
the smog pump bracket (After talking to Ken H., I like this idea (did before
anyhow) and I think I have the exact compressor I need sitting in an '83
Pontiac 2000 that I'm parting out)... you *could* mount the two compressors
upright, side by side, and just put a hood scoop on the hood to make the
clearance for the two compressors. :-) Use one for air, one for AC.

Now why would I be toying with this idea?... heh... 2 on-board air
compressors put out 2x the volume... ;)

Now if I can just remember the *other* thoughts I had on my road trip...
driving 3400 miles gives you a lot of time to think. ;)
