Chevy Swaps
I was eavesdropping on a conversation John Comer of Gryphin Racing had with
someone about putting Chevy power in a Scout... John's opinion was to forget
about a mouse (SBC) 350... if you're going to do the swap, do a big block...
the small block doesn't have the grunt of a 304/345 where it needs it (low)
and you'll find yourself underpowered when taking off or shifting into the
low band of the motor... you have to rev the small block to get power...
while the 454/427/396 has more bottom end grunt to get that 3Ton chunk of
steel rolling...
It makes sense.. gas mileage shouldn't be much worse, and if yer gonna do
it.... do it *right*.
