Forgot to throw in my $.02 on this one:

Andrew:
  Check that the contacts on flat two wire connector are clean,
and make sure the wires are not broken.  When I had stored my 
truck for an extended period, these contacts corroded and the lights
were flickering badly.  A quick scrape with my pocket knife (in the
dark) took care of it.
