Doug,
   What you did was correct and should give you an increase in
performance, unless you are usin the Jacobs coil to fire the plugs. What
I mean is, if you have the Jacobs set to fire from the pulse of your
coil or from the stock coil then you would probable get an increase, if
you are using the resistance wire hooked directly to the red wire of the
Jacobs then there wouldn't be an inprovment.
