Koenig A Worthy Winch?

I know that winches have been beaten to death in antiquity, so this 
is short.  I saw a nifty PTO driven Koenig winch recently.  The 
guy mentioned he was keeping it for a project, says they are 
well built, and that his would fetch about $500.  He rebuilt
it a couple of years ago and it seems to work great.  

Are these indeed worthy winches?  Is it possible to get the
PTO Scout2 parts to drive it: gearbox (or is it transfer case)
PTO adaptor and driveshaft?  $500 too high?  Mark
