Re: Vacuum Advance

Sorry I didn't post more info. The mechanic I took it to wired it
up to the machines and at higher rpms (2800- 3500) the timing was
advancing more than 15 degrees, even up to twenty. This is with the dwell
and timing set right at specifications ( 0 degrees and 30 something on the
dwell) For now I advanced the normal timing to about 6 degrees and plugged
the advance. It seems to do pretty well except when cold in the AM. I was
also having trouble with the mixture adjustments after I rebuilt the carb.
It would vibrate and act like it's missing at the suggested idle speed
(around 700 rpm I think) so... It turns out at one point on the drivers
side mixture screw it was turned out about 3/4 of a turn but for some
reason closing so the drivers side of the engine was kinda starving.

Anyway I'm going to play around with it this weekend and see what
I get. I also might re-jet the carb because it tends to run rich. The
whole engine is a little tired which I think is helping to create some of
these quirks.

Regards,
Mark
