Interesting IH Facts

Fellow abnormal IH enthusiasts,

A couple of interesting facts I recently read in the new book and thought
some of you might enjoy... "International Truck Color History" by Tom
Brownell and Patrick W. Ertel.

Way back in 1925 "S" line trucks, IH included a small transmission driven
air compressor for on-the-road tire repairs. Even from their early years
IH knew what true off-road and truck driving nuts needed!

The 1st IH light duty vehicle to have a fuse block? The "C" series
introduced for the 1961 model year... installed for "safety" [no kidding].
There wasn't one on prior models.

This is a great book... beautiful sharp glossy color pictures. It even has
pictures and information on the Scout "Spirit" model which has the same
paint scheme as my "Patriot" model Traveler. It traces the IH truck
history from inception to the end of production with the Scout II line.
The book was published in 1997 by Motorbooks Intl., ISBN 0-7603-0361-4.
Only $19.95 list price, well worth it IMHO.

Regards,

John
