split rims and a carb

Hello all! 

     I have a set of 8-lug split rims from a '74 1-ton if anyone is interested
in them.  Also, I have a '79 Terra w/ V-345 stock w/ Accell 300+ racing
ignition.  I'm looking for a carb to relpace my Thermoquad.  I can't seem to
stop it from bogging when I punch the accelerator...I think the plastic is
warped.  Anyhow, I ordered a 650 cfm Edellbrock (sp?) from JEGS this summer
but the adapter for my manifold made the rig too tall to close the hood.  I
know that Thermoquads are of the same bolt pattern as a Quadrajet...but who
wants one of those?!   JEGS does carry an Edellbrock replacement for the
Quadrajet, but I don't know how good it is.  So if anyone knows of an easy-to-
adjust, off the shelf carb that I can buy, please let me know!
