Piston answer
Dennis I have the domed (swirl dish) pistons in my engin which is 1969
vintage. The diference is in the heads. If you go to the domed piston get
the older heads made for the domed piston. The compression difference is
the domed are 8.6 to 1 and the flat top are 8.1 to one. So all in all you
gain a half of compression point. I found one big help to get power and
torque is to get headers and dual exhaust. The swirl dish pistons are neat
looking as half the piston is raised and the other half is dished (half
moon) style. This helps with the gas swirling into the chamber and mixing
better. The engin I have came out of a IH pickup. Hope this helps.
