Full-size questions

I just bought a '73 1210 crew cab. It's pretty solid, but it's fallen victim
to 25 years of creativity. Should the front springs have a negative arch?
They do now, and there's about 2" worth of spacer between the spring and axle.
I know that's not right, but without it the axle would be close to hitting the
oil pan. The back has about 3" of spacers. Are there aftermarket lift
springs available for these trucks, or is there another application that will
work?

For some reason, someone has taken all the bet mounts off the frame and made
their own out of 1-1/4" square tubing. Do the stock bed mount brackets bolt
to the frame? Are patch panels available for these trucks for cab corners,
floor pans, etc.?

It has a Koenig pto driven winch. It drives from a pto on the transfer case
rather than on the transmission as I would have expected. There's no cable on
the spool, but that's an easy problem to fix. There's a spring attached to
the winch control lever. It's broken. What's it's function? Also the pto
control cable is gone except for the knob on the floor. Does anyone have any
idea how it should be routed? Also, can someone give me some quick operating
instructions for the winch, such as what gear combination I need on the tranny
and transfer case for it to operate?

By the way, I was impressed with the gas mileage. It's a 392 4-bbl with 4.11
gears and is in need of a good tune-up. I got 10-12 mpg on the interstate.
That's about twice what I expected. Cruising speed needs improvement, though.

Thanks in advance for any help.
