Yeah.. they're kinda ugly. At least, at first. As time goes on, my two
Scouts seem to get prettier n' prettier.. even that ugly yellow (Why is it
IH couldn't make a decent color except RED? My friend's '61 Scout 80 is an
ugly off-white.. sheesh) on my '72 becomes endearing after a while.

I like the lines of the Scout II body.. that '70s styling..

Besides, momma always taught me to buy an ugly truck (or car).. no one else
wants 'em 'cuz they're ugly. Find an ugly truck with a good/great drive
train, and you're in business.. doesn't matter what it looks like, so long
as it's mechanically sound. Scouts usually fill this bill!

And even if someone argues that it really is just plain old UGLY, I can
still laugh.. my "ugly" truck cost... oh, 1/30th to 1/50th of what their
shiny Explorer/Blazer/Jimmy/Cherokee/Mercedes/Durango/whatever

So.. I'll take 30 ugly Scouts over one (also ugly) Explorer, any day.

Of course, now that I have the mechanicals pretty well gone through.. it's
time to make my ugly Scouts look pretty. :-) Paint would be the primary
contributor to that transformation.. Most of the Scouts I've seen could
really benefit from a fresh coat..
