MSD Ignition

Scouters,

I just got though installing my MSD 6 Off-Road ignition and Mallory dual
points distributor. Wow, what a difference on starting. Hard to believe
and it idles so much smoother. I hope to have it licensed in a couple
weeks so we'll see how it is in the power dept. But I'm already happy
that I spent the money to install this system.

My Mallory distributor didn't fit when I got it. So I went back to the
guy I bought it from and he "just couldn't do anything" since this was
special order. Hmmmmm so I call Mallory directly. They went out of
their way to help. I sent in the Dist and they installed the gear and I
tried to install it and it won't go down all the way. So I did some
measuring and called Mallory again. They asked if I would send it in
again and I offered to send my old distributor so they could see what my
problem was. They jumped at the chance. In about 2 weeks my distributor
came back again. It now fits perfectly, runs beautiful. They never did
charge anything. In fact they *volunteered* to fix it for no charge. We
now have a new Mallory part number for IH engines. I noticed that the
distributor I got back has a different part number from the one I sent in.

If you're interested in a Mallory distributor call Dave Forbes in Mallory
customer service (702) 882-6600. He can give you the part number or any
other information you need. Mention my name and I'm sure you will get a
comment or two. You will need to order from Summit or Jegs (don't use
Florissant Performance in St. Louis).

Speaking of Summit, I bought a one-wire distributor from them in June and
it died last weekend with a total of 1 hour run-time. My Scout isn't
licensed, so I explained about it being a project car and not in service
yet. They sent a replacement immediately. I definitely will do business
with them again.

Steve
