535i M30 engine replacement questions

Folks,

I am replacing the motor (cracked block) on my '87 535is and have a couple
of questions for you. I got the replacement motor from a local junk yard
and it seems to be off the automatic transmission (mine is manual). It has
a different throttle switch but it does not matter since I am putting my
old harness anyway. The real difference is that its rear crankshaft end
does not have the pilot bearing for the transmission input shaft.

Question: is there an easy way to get my old bearing (which seems to be
in good shape) without damaging it and put it in the new crankshaft? What
tools are required? If no what is a good place to get a new one?

Second question: what is the thickness of a new clutch disc? Mine is 9.5
mm where as Bentley says that the minimum is 7.5 mm. I know that it is
recommended to replace it anyway, but if the new one is, say, 10 mm, then
I don't see the point of spending $100+ to gain 0.5 mm.

Any other suggestions what should I look/inspect/replace while the engine,
transmission, etc are off the car?

Thanks.
Ilia.
