Re: Troubleshooting e34 ventilation

Rick,
MODIC is a $25?K computer that interfaces with BMW's in-car electronics.
BMW sells it to the dealers, but not the independents.
BMW independents had bended together to conjure up a $8?K Linux based
alternative that handles most, though not all of what MODIC does.
Long story short, this is not a DIY job. Find either a dealer or an
independent in your area and pay them to do this.

Can anyone expound on the following re: e34 lack of heat.......

What is Modic? Can't this be troubleshot without going to the dealer
($$$)?

Heat output should be closer to 165 degrees.

You possibly have a mixing flap leak, this is the flap that blocks off
either
the heater core or the cold air intake.

Mixing flaps are controlled by stepper motors and are diagnosible. Get
the
car to someone with a Modic, or to the dealer, and check for logical
problems
in flap positions, sensor readings, etc.
