David,
7mm open end wrench worked for me on E30 and E36 cars.
My money is on BMW being consistent and recycling the calipers and bleeder 
screws throughout their product line.
A good wrench (SnapOn, Facom, etc) is essential to avoid rounding off the 
bleeder screw.
