Never mind intermittent wipers, here's intermittent steering...

When it rains and my car has been standing still for a while, it seems
my steering briefly conks out. Once the car has been underway for
several minutes, this u-s-u-a-l-l-y goes away. But not always - one
morning on a recent commute I was barely able to turn into a parking
space at the train station.

Moisture must be getting to some components. Has anybody run into this
phenomenon - any ideas on where I should look/steps I can take to reduce
moisture?

Thanks all, and Happy Holidays.
