Had the same thing happen in my 533i. Shop cleaned and inspected the relevant
connections and it stopped. One day I started it, rolled 50 feet down the
street and it died for good. Diagnosis at the shop - failed fuel pressure
pump, the one outside the tank and underneath the car. Might start looking
there.
