fuel pick-up screen

Gentlemen
   Far too many fuel pumps get changed before simply cleaning the fine 
mesh screen at the pick-up tube in the gas tank.
   It takes more time, but saves many pumps.
   I hear "groaning pumps" all the time.  A good spray of carb 
cleaner, etc. from the inside of the screen outward, in a well 
ventilated area can do wonders.
