turn signal problem

On my '92 325i (105K), my turn signal seems to be going bad.

It will 'freeze' intermittantly  when on (right side), and after the
turn, it will stay on.  I need to signal left to get the light unfroze,
and when I do, I hear a ratcheting sound coming from somewhere...like a
servo motor going on or  something.

Sound  familiar to anyone?  The bulbs all light, and it seems to me that
when the car is hot (body, not necessarily engine) that the problem
happens more often...but I could be wrong.

Thoughts?
